As we chug along into March, it’s time to reveal our next featured Author: Richard Thompson. Come along on a journey to Cherry Grove with Mr. Thompson as your conductor! As an established rail historian in the Pacific North West, Thompson has already published several books on train and street car travel in Portland and the Willamette Valley. His most recent book looks at some of the more interesting tales of Oregon’s many lost and forgotten street car lines. On Saturday, March 18th he will be discussing the story of the little town of Cherry Grove, a community that would eventually become Forest Grove, and how it successfully installed the first electric street car in the Western United States. Come and see just how much this impacted the growth of the little town.
