To Preserve, Interpret, and Educate
As the historian of Washington County, Washington County Historical Society and Museum preserves and interprets the history of the county, creating knowledge of the past, linking it to an enhanced understanding of the present, and presenting it in diverse educational formats.
Statement of Purpose
Washington County Historical society and Museum, a private non-profit corporation, is the historian of Washington County.
In fulfillment of its public trust, the museum:
- Interprets and presents the history of the county through exhibits, educational programs, publications and special events.
- Increases the fund of knowledge relative to the county by collecting and preserving artifacts and documents, and by facilitating their study by the research community, and
- Makes educational programs and services accessible to broad and diverse audiences.
