Welcome to the official website of the Washington County Museum and Washington County Historical Society! We hope you enjoy the website’s new look and find it easy to navigate it’s many informative pages and subjects.
If you have found us, you are probably looking for historical information regarding Washington County, Oregon, and/or information regarding the many history exhibits, education programs, collections and events sponsored by WCHS.
For those of you that would like to contact us or visit the Washington County Museum, simply click on the About Us tab to find museum hours, directions, and staff contact information.
If you are a teacher, scout leader, parent or student, don’t miss our Local History and Education sections. Local History is where you will find a series of short articles on important Washington County subjects, such as the Kalapuya, Joe Meek, Tabitha Brown, The Silicon Forest, Logging and Timber, and the histories of local communities including Hillsboro and Forest Grove. Education is where you will find lots of fun pages for kids, and important resource materials for teachers, parents and scout leaders. You will also find important information on how you can sign up for Mobile Museum and Scout Saturdays presentations, as well as Museum Tours.
If you are a collector, local history buff or researcher, check out our Collections and Events & Programs tabs. Collections is where you will find information regarding the Washington County Collection and Archives held at the Washington County Museum, including the museum’s extensive collection of over 20,000 photographic images relating to the cities of Hillsboro, Beaverton, Forest Grove and surrounding areas. In this section, you can “Ask the Historian” questions, view our Photo Gallery, find links to Local Heritage Websites, or read informative articles on how to care for your own personal collection.
